ONS Site-Specific Cancer Series:
Lung Cancer Online Course

Complex diagnoses require in-depth knowledge for caregivers. The ONS Site-Specific Cancer Series: Lung Cancer Online Course provides the kind of cutting edge information that you need to truly understand the many complexities of lung cancer diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management. Each course module builds upon the previous one, to give an in depth understanding of the care of these challenging patients.

Site Specific: Lung Cancer will equip you with the evidence-based knowledge that you need to skillfully care for patients with this complex diagnosis.

Site Specific: Lung Cancer is an informative course providing the quality instruction you expect from ONS in a new, convenient format. The courses are faculty-mediated programs, allowing students to interact directly with the faculty through e-mail and chat forums. Working along with the accompanying text, students will engage in self-paced reading assignments, activities, and learning opportunities. Students will interact with faculty through e-mails, chat forums, and ongoing evaluation of assignments. The student forums will provide opportunities to share expertise with colleagues.

This is a faculty-led course. Students may access the course at any time during the three-week period that their class is active, and complete the required activities and quizzes during those three weeks.

All students interested in this course are advised to review the Technical Requirements before purchasing the course.

There are two scheduled chat forums within this course, the symptom management chat and the psychosocial issue's chat. Each chat forum has two separate times that students can attend to make them more accommodating for those in different time zones. Past course students have found these chat sessions to be both enjoyable and informative. Please note the chat dates and times under the Live Chat Forums tab and that the chats are scheduled in the east coast time zone.

Once you are a registered student for the course, you do not need to reserve a space to attend a chat but simply attend at the scheduled time. Visit the Live Chat Forums page for dates, times, and topics.

For students to receive continuing nursing education credits for the course, the following requirements must be met:

  • Completion of all five post-tests with a score of 80% or better
  • Completion of the course evaluation

Students will receive 14.2 continuing education credits upon the successful completion of the program. No partial credit will be given.

ONS is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center 's (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

ONS is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #2850.

Accreditation as an American Nurses Credentialing Center 's Commission provider refers only to its continuing nursing education activities and does not imply ANCC Commission on Accreditation endorsement of any commercial products.

The credits you earn for this program qualify for ONC-PRO points needed for ONCC certification renewal.
