Vascular Access Devices with Dawn Camp-Sorrell, MSN, FNP, AOCN^®

Dawn Camp-Sorrell is an oncology nurse practitioner who has been practicing as an oncology nurse for over 25 years.  She received her BSN at the University Of Alabama Capstone College Of Nursing, MSN at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a post-masters family nurse practitioner degree at Vanderbilt University.  Ms. Camp-Sorrell has published extensively in numerous oncology nursing journals and books, including the Oncology Nursing Forum, Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, and the Journal of Infusion Nursing.  She is editor of the Oncology Nursing Society’s Access Device Guidelines and a seasoned  instructor in the ONS Access Device online webcourse. Additionally, Ms. Camp-Sorrell co-edited the second edition of the Clinical Manual for the Oncology Advanced Practice Nurse, which received the 2006 AJN Book of the Year Award.  A much sought-after speaker, Ms. Camp-Sorrell brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion of access devices.

Lois Anaya Winkelman RN, MS, has practiced nursing for 25 years at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the field of Gynecologic Oncology nursing for 20 years.  She received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees from Rush University. Presently, she is the Research Nurse Manager for patients enrolled onto the Gynecologic Oncology Group clinical trials. She has been an active member and an elected officer of the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists and has presented and published topics related to Gynecologic Oncology nursing.

Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs with Marty Polovich, MN, RN, AOCN^®

Martha (Marty) Polovich, MN, RN, AOCN^®, has been an oncology nurse since 1980, and an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist since 1987. She is the Associate Director, Clinical Practice of the Duke Oncology Network in Durham, North Carolina. She received her diploma in nursing from Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, and her Bachelor and Masters of Nursing degrees from Louisiana State University. Ms. Polovich is co-editor of the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice (2001, 2005, and 2009 editions) and editor of the ONS Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs (ONS, 2003). She received financial support from Cardinal Health for preparation of a manuscript on hazardous drug safe handling. Additionally, she is an ONS Liaison to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Hazardous Drug Safe Handling Working Group.

Pharmacologic Issues with Michael Brandt,  BS, PharmD

Michael Brandt, BS, PharmD, is currently the Pharmacy Clinical Supervisor at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  He received his Batchelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy, and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington College of Pharmacy.  Having over 20 years of experience in oncology, Michael has an extensive knowledge in both the inpatient and the ambulatory cancer settings. Additionally, his wife is an Oncology RN! He is on the speaker bureaus of Genentech, Amgen, and Pfizer, and has received honoraria for speaking engagements. Michael speaks locally, on the state level, and nationally on many cancer-related topics to various groups including ONS chapters, at ONS Congress, to managed-care businesses, health care organizations, and pharmacy groups.  He holds the title of Affiliate/Adjunct Faculty at Idaho State University, Washington State University, and the University of Washington.

Extravasation with Lisa Schulmeister, RN, MN, APRN-BC, OCN^®, FAAN

Chat Dates and Times:

Lisa Schulmeister has 30 years of experience in oncology nursing and has worked in inpatient, outpatient, and home infusion settings. She works part time in an office practice and is a practice, education, and legal consultant. Lisa received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She has published several articles on vesicant extravasation management and frequently lectures on this topic. Lisa is a consultant to TopoTarget USA, and has served as a focus group participant for Baxter International, Inc. She served on the Board of Directors of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and ONS Foundation Board of Trustees from 2005-2008. In 2006, Lisa was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing.

Pain Management with Jeannine M. Brant PhD(c), APRN, AOCN^®

Jeannine M. Brant PhD(c), APRN, AOCN^®, is an oncology clinical nurse specialist and pain consultant at St. Vincent Healthcare and an assistant affiliate professor at Montana State University College of Nursing.  Jeannine is also an American Cancer Society scholar and a doctoral candidate in Cancer Nursing at the University of Utah.  Jeannine’s work focuses on symptom management, and she is recognized for her work as an author and lecturer in the field of oncology nursing, palliative care, and pain management.  She has lectured extensively throughout the United States and is a prolific writer with over 50 contributions in the nursing literature.  As a member of ONS for the past 23 years, Jeannine has served in many capacities including the Clinical Practice Committee, associate editor for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, editor for the ONS Standards of Practice, and as team leader for Putting Evidence Into Practice^® (PEP): Prevention of Bleeding.  She has received many national awards including the Oncology Nursing Society Schering lectureship award, the ONS/Purdue Pharma Excellence in Pain Management award, and the ONS/Amgen Excellence in Patient/Public Education award.  She has served as a speaker and/or consultant for GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca International, Purdue Pharma, Kyphon, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Ortho Biotech, and Amgen.

Lymphedema with Marybeth Singer, MS, ANP-BC, AOCN^©, ACHPN

Marybeth Singer, MS, ANP-BC, AOCN^©, ACHPN is an oncology nurse practitioner currently working at the Massachusetts General Hospital Gillette Center for Breast Oncology. She received her graduate nursing degree from Boston College in 1993 with MS in adult primary care and was an American Cancer Society scholar. She received her BSN in 1978 from Boston University School of Nursing. She has practiced oncology nursing for over 25 years with expertise in breast cancer, symptom management and palliative care. She has been active in ONS for many years at local and national level, most recently serving on the ONS PEP lymphedema team. She serves on MGH lymphedema research project team. She was the recipient of the ONS/Purdue Pharma Excellence in Pain Management award in 2006. She is currently no longer active on any speakers bureaus and has no conflicts of interest to declare.
