Targeted & Biological Therapies SIG - The mission of the Targeted and Biological Therapies SIG is to promote excellence in oncology nursing by studying, researching, and exchanging information related to the care of patients diagnosed and/or treated with biologic agents.
Prevention/Early Detection SIG - The mission of the Prevention/Early Detection SIG is to promote excellence in oncology nursing through an exchange of information related to Cancer Prevention and Early Detection and by supporting the ONS mission statement.
Skin Cancer/Melanoma Patient Resource Area - Skin cancer is the most common cancer. The majority of skin cancers, basal cell and squamous cell account for over a million cases annually and have high cure rates. Melanoma, is another type of skin cancer that is less common, however more serious. Melanoma will effect 1/78 females and 1/53 males in the United States in their lifetime. In its early stages melanoma is curable; however, once it spreads it can be very serious and causes the most skin cancer deaths.
