Sarcoma Patient Resource Area - Sarcoma describes a group of cancers that stem from connective tissues. Normal connective tissues include fat, muscle, blood vessels, deep skin tissues, nerves, bones, and cartilage. About 8,300 new soft tissue sarcomas will be diagnosed in the US this year. The 5-year survival rate for people with soft tissue sarcomas is around 90% if the cancer is found before it spreads.
