Genetics Short Course

Faculty Biographical Sketches and Vested Interest

Principal Investigator: M. Linda Workman, PhD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Workman serves as the principal investigator and lead project faculty. She has more that 20 years experience in oncology nursing and 18 years experience in graduate level education. Dr. Workman’s graduate education as a developmental biologist complements her nursing expertise for which she is nationally recognized, having served five years as an American Cancer Society Professor of Oncology Nursing. Her background in cancer cytogenetics as well as her established ability to teach complex physiologic-based information to many levels of students and other health care professional makes her ideally qualified for this position.

Mary Haag, PhD, FACMG

Dr. Haag, a Fellow in the American Academy of Medical Genetics, is board certified in both Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. Her 20 years of laboratory genetics coupled with her extensive and multileveled genetics teaching experience make her an excellent choice to serve as faculty for this project.

Amy Strauss Tranin, RN, ARNP, MS, AOCN®

Ms. Trainin, a cancer genetics counselor, provides comprehensive cancer risk assessment and management services. She has over 10 years of experience in cancer risk assessment and management. Ms. Tranin is credentialed in Familial Cancer Risk Assessment and Management.

Annette M. Parry Bush, RN, BSN, MBA, OCN®

Ms. Bush is a Project Manager for the Oncology Nursing Society’s Education Team. She is the Nurse Planner for the Genetics Short Course for Cancer Nurses. She plans, directs, coordinates, and delegates activities for the course to ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished.

Michele Galioto, RN, MSN

Ms. Galioto is the Director of Education for the Oncology Nursing Society. She is responsible for promoting the vision, mission, values, and strategic plan of the Oncology Nursing Society by planning, facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating professional and public education projects.
