ONS 2008 Advanced Practice Nursing Conference Abstract Submission Instructions

General Abstract Information

The 2008 Advanced Practice Nursing Conference Team invites you to participate in the conference by submitting an abstract that describes cutting-edge original nursing research or nursing innovations in the areas of administration/ leadership development, clinical/evidence-based practice, or education. Each abstract is reviewed by a group of ONS APN volunteers with clinical and/or research expertise. Selection will be based solely on blind review. All abstracts accepted in 2008 will be presented as posters.

The primary author for the abstract must be an advanced practice nurse. Advanced practice nurses (APNs) are RNs who have acquired specialized knowledge and skills by completing a master's or doctorate degree in their specialty. APNs may partner with nurses or other licensed healthcare professionals from another discipline (physician, pharmacist, physical therapist, etc.), but the lead author must be an APN.

Authors of accepted poster abstracts (or a designee) must be present at their posters during an assigned session at the conference to allow for dialog with participants. In the interest of time and space, we ask that only one person present the poster. Posters should remain in place throughout the entire conference.

Authors may submit abstracts of their own completed work, work in progress, or work presented at the local or regional level. Abstracts may not be submitted that contain information that has been previously published or presented to national or international oncology nursing audiences.

The primary author of the abstract must obtain consent from all authors and appropriate institutional clearances prior to abstract submission.
