10th National Conference on Cancer Nursing Research
February 12 – 14, 2009
Orlando, Florida

General Information

The 10th National Conference on Cancer Nursing Research provides a forum to disseminate research findings and stimulate translation to practice. Conference objectives include:

  • To discuss current and emerging cancer nursing research issues, methods, and findings.
  • To apply research findings to cancer practice, education, research, and policy.
  • To provide opportunities for networking and mentoring in research.
  • To foster research partnerships and teams.

The conference planning team invites researchers, doctoral students, clinical trials nurses, advanced practice nurses, and others with an interest in research relevant to cancer care to participate in the upcoming conference by submitting an abstract.

Abstracts may be submitted for completed research, research in progress, evidence-based practice projects, issues in research, symposia session, the ONS State-of-the-Science Lectureship, and the Victoria Mock New Investigator Award.

Each abstract is reviewed by a group of Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) doctorally prepared volunteers with expertise in research, clinical trials, and translation of research into practice. Selection will be based solely on blind review. Abstracts may be selected for presentation in podium sessions, presentation as a poster, two symposia sessions, the ONS State-of-the-Science Lecture, and the Victoria Mock New Investigator Award presentation.

More than one abstract may be submitted but only one will be accepted for podium presentation. Other submitted abstracts will be considered for poster presentation. Only one author (usually the first author) may present the podium or poster presentation.

Abstracts may be submitted for consideration as a podium or poster presentation. Abstracts accepted for podium presentation are allotted 15 minutes for presentation. Authors may submit abstracts of work presented at a local or regional level, but abstracts may not be submitted that contain information that has been previously published or presented to national or international oncology nursing audiences. The primary author of the abstract must obtain consent from all authors and appropriate institutional clearances prior to abstract submission.

***There will be a Late Breaking Research Session at the 2009 research conference. A separate call for abstracts will be sent out in the fall of 2008 with a deadline to submit of December 2nd, 2008. The top four scoring abstracts from this specific call will be chosen for this session.***
