ONS Seeks an Editor for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing

ONS seeks a dynamic and visionary oncology nurse to serve as editor of the Society’s journal, Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON). The CJON editor ensures that the journal’s content supports the CJON mission and is appropriate and appealing to nurses who provide direct patient care by soliciting timely and relevant manuscripts, mentoring authors, selecting and working with reviewers, and leading editorial board meetings and journal programs and activities. 

This position requires
  • 10 years of experience in oncology nursing
  • Experience as an editor or assistant editor of a nursing journal and a working knowledge of nursing publications and publishing
  • A thorough understanding of the topics of interest to the oncology nurse who provides direct patient care
  • Excellent leadership and consensus-building skills
  • Strong writing, editing, planning, communication, and meeting facilitation skills
  • An understanding of print production
  • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn the Society’s Web-based peer-review software program
  • Ability to travel five to six times a year and participate on 10–12 conference calls per year.

The CJON editor is an independent, paid contractor of ONS.
