Access Devices: The Virtual Clinic Online Course

Looking for an innovative way to really understand access devices? Then join Access Devices: The Virtual Clinic.

Accept your "job" as an oncology Registered Nurse in The Virtual Clinic and begin your journey toward expertise in access device management!

In the clinic you'll "care for" 10 patients, all of whom present and develop the real-life challenges that you experience every day in the care of your patients. Progress through their stories, their treatment, and their complications, while gaining invaluable knowledge in the care and management of access devices used in oncology care today. Interact with experienced faculty who are expert in the care of access devices, and enjoy the camaraderie of a virtual classroom of nurses who take care of the same patients that you do!

Access Devices: The Virtual Clinic experience will equip you with the evidence-based knowledge in access device management that you need to assure your cutting-edge practice!

Access Devices: The Virtual Clinic is an informative course providing the quality instruction you expect from ONS in a new, convenient format. The classes are faculty-mediated programs, allowing students to interact directly with the faculty through e-mail and chat forums. Working along with the text, students will engage in self-paced reading assignments, activities, and learning opportunities. Students will interact with faculty through e-mails, chat forums, and ongoing evaluation of assignments. The student forums will provide opportunities to share expertise with colleagues.

This is a self-paced, faculty-led course. Students may access the course at any time during the three-week period that their class is active, and complete the activities and quizzes during those three weeks.

Students participate in the live chats for Carol and Mary at the scheduled dates and times. Please note that the chats are scheduled in the east coast time zone.

Once you are a registered student for the course, you do not need to reserve a space to attend a chat but simply attend at the scheduled time. Visit the Live Chat Forums page for dates, times, and topics.

For students to receive the 15.0 continuing nursing education credits, the following requirements must be met:

  • Completion of the post-test with a score of 80% or better.  You will have a total of two chances to pass the post-test.
  • Completion of the course evaluation.

Online students will receive 15.0 continuing education credits upon the successful completion of the program. No partial credit will be given.

ONS is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center 's (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

ONS is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #2850.

Accreditation as an ANCC provider refers only to its continuing-education activities and does not imply ANCC Commission on Accreditation endorsement of any commercial products.

The credits you earn for this program qualify for ONC-PRO points needed for ONCC certification renewal.
