knowledge of the results of four key nursing research studies. Each program
has been approved for 1.2 continuing-education credits
upon completion of the conference and return of an evaluation form.

Learning Objectives
Hot Flashes, Body Temperature, Metabolism, and Breast Cancer
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to
- Compare physiology of hot flashes in women with breast cancer to healthy
women.
- Describe circadian pattern of core body temperature in women with
breast cancer and its relationship to hot flashes.
Computerized Symptom and Quality of Life Assessment
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to
- Describe the process of testing and adapting a computerized clinical
intervention in ambulatory cancer care
- Describe the common symptoms and quality of life concerns of radiation
oncology patients at time of the consult visit.
Telephone Intervention Project: Rural Women with Cancer and their
Partners
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to
- Describe the effectiveness of the telephone interpersonal counseling
intervention for women with breast cancer and partners.
- Discuss implications for practice and research.
Sleep, Fatigue, and Enhanced Activity in Children with Cancer
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to
- Define and describe pediatric cancer-related fatigue.
- Identify key assessment strategies for pediatric cancer-related fatigue.
- Describe the current state of the science for interventions related
to pediatric cancer-related fatigue.
